As an oily ointment with sesame oil and beeswax as the base materials, MEBO tends to be absorbed by the cloth sheet, leaving the contaminated sheet hard to clean and the wound is dried as well due to the absorption. According to the requirement of the standard application of MEBT/MEBO the wound should be maintained in a physiologically moist environment throughout the treatment. Therefore, a sterile disposable sheet is recommended, which can keep the wound moist, save the consumption of MEBO and avoid the troublesome of washing the contaminated sheets.
